Luk Zephyr and the Savage Race

Finally completed this beast of a project!!! This is the main project I am debuting at this weekend's Mocca Art Fest.

Check out the printing step-by-step process, which I have been teasing and shamelessly posting multiple times in various sites I have. Thanks for checking them out!

It measures about 4 3/8" x 8" with a slip out cover. The narrative wraps around the accordian like the Girl Powah book.

It came out great, specially after I finalized which colors I was using to print compared to the original Photoshop color maps.

You can purchase them ONLINE.

February Update!!!

A lot happened this month, that I forgot to update on the blog... So here we go...

I have finally joined you in Social Media-verse and have an Instagram account: http://instagram.com/ald3nv and a Tumblr: http://aldenviguilla.tumblr.com/. Both of which has a lot of new pictures of projects I'm currently working on.

I started printing my new silkscreen book and is currently about 65% done. It is coming out nicely. I cannot wait until it debuts on this year's Mocca!

I am also working on a new Archangel (of the X-Men and X-Force) print.

(Belated) Happy New Year!!!

Belated Happy New Year!!! I hope this new year will bring me more awesomeness. So far, I'm off to a pretty good start with new silkscreen projects.

A little update with my next silkscreen Zephyr book projects... I'm currently in the process of color mapping it in Photoshop. Once mapped, I can use the mock colors to select individual parts of the illustration- tattoo, or body, etc.

I'm also doing 2 smaller silkscreen books when I print this big project, so that I get more out of the silkscreen pulls. One is a superheroine fighting demons...

The second is a Dogs (and Cats) book.

New Zephyr Book **in-progress**

While procastinating and distracting myself with painting, this is the actual BIG project I'm working on. Another silkscreen book.

This was supposed to be the third... the second is put on hold. And the first is now on sale at Desert Island NY and also, Recession Art Show Bookstore!

Luk Zephyr Vs the Basilisk Horde (print!)

1- Blue Green
So, here is the printing process. 10 separations!

2- Dark Blue Green
3- Magenta
Magenta when overlapped with the Blue Green made the purple gloves and trunks.

4- Gold
5- Yellow
Yellow overlapped with the Blue Green made the green tongue and on the Dark Blue Green made the dark green mouth. It also made the orange when it overlapped the magenta.

These next photos were taken by my camera phone, which is not that great...

6- White
White made lighter versions of all the colors printed so far. It also left a veiny tongue on the monsters!

7- Blue (super transparent)
 This separation made the shading.

8- Dark Blue
Dark Blue lineart on the monsters and background.

9- Brown
Brown lineart on the characters and the background.

on Canson Edition, Vanilla paper
The last layer is the very light pink which made the transparent dress on the female character and drool on the monsters.

I'm in the process of silkscreening it now. This is the digital illustration I did to use as the color guide. I'll post the silkscreen process after it's completed.

new Luk Zephyr Print

Character Sketch/ Study
Starting a new Luk Zephyr print... IN the process of inking on vellum.

I hate smudging!!! I keep forgetting that the ink doesn't dry as quick on vellum.

The rest of the progress...
