Dino Megazord

The First Megazord. I'll be silkscreening this soon with the final color guide.

The Inking... I did it on canvas paper. Which was awesome! It gave my lines a very nice texture. I also fixed the proportions once I scanned it to Photoshop.

The Pencils and Sketch... The proportions where off when I started. I was using a non-photo blue lead holder to draw it out. I kept erasing lines and continually changing as I drew.

I'll post the silkscreen prints as soon as I finish them! A nice "sequel" to my Super Folio.

Burn (zine-in-progress)

This will actually by the back cover.

After completing the 2nd issue Nature of Nature, I'm finally starting a new zine! This one is gonna somewhat abstract.

Preliminary cover design.

It's actually based on a character I previously drew. She's a fire priestess.

My initial cover idea.... color test.

Like always, I try to change up how I do the comic. Which can be both a good and bad thing. The previous zines I made were Pen/Brush/Inked.

For this one, I am gonna draw the whole thing through Photoshop.

Quickie sketch.

But I did draw the "thumbs" and initial idea on paper and taped them on my closet door. This helps to see the continuity of the story.

My non-sensical storyboards....

Selfies...

I did a few self portraits experimenting with different styles.

All of these are done with ink wash and pen nibs.

It was really fun experimenting with different styles.

I'll post more art soon!

Archangel

Original Archangel is the best Archangel.

I am doing this as a new silkscreen project. Testing the colors out in Photoshop. Once I finish up my silkscreen book, I will be printing this next.

X-Force Archangel is Bad Ass too.

Now, for the step-by-step:

Inking.

Pencils.

There's also more step-by-steps at my Instagram and a LOT more at my Tumblr.

Mythic Warrior

These are tests I did for a graphic novel project. I got pretty far in the process but didn't get the gig.

But they ultimately made pretty cool portfolio pieces for kid-oriented stuff.

I was playing around with various ways to color and ink in these 3 panels.

The sketches!

February Update!!!

A lot happened this month, that I forgot to update on the blog... So here we go...

I have finally joined you in Social Media-verse and have an Instagram account: http://instagram.com/ald3nv and a Tumblr: http://aldenviguilla.tumblr.com/. Both of which has a lot of new pictures of projects I'm currently working on.

I started printing my new silkscreen book and is currently about 65% done. It is coming out nicely. I cannot wait until it debuts on this year's Mocca!

I am also working on a new Archangel (of the X-Men and X-Force) print.

Lemmings Project...

Done in Photoshop

I have a really bad habit of constantly starting projects without finishing the previous... yikes. Well, here's another! Lemmings! A future silkscreen project... I think.

Done in Gouache... Trying it out

Based on, well... Lemmings. Still trying to figure out what colors to use and what medium to do it in.

Done with ink an aqua brush

I tested it out with photoshop, gouache, ink, and just plain 'ol sketching.

Sketch. Sketch. Sketch.

Ink Brush Figure Drawings

I did this in Tom Motley's Figure Drawing for Graphic Novelists class at SVA.

I used a water brush filled with a black/ blue fountain pen ink and water.

It was a fun exercise from the usual pencil figure drawings.

I'll post more figure drawings too.
