Mini Silkscreen Book- "Truce"

It started on paper, scanned then inked on Photoshop

After completing my first silkscreen book, I decided to do another one. 

Separations are made on tracing vellum

  This time, smaller and with less colors.

"Truce" only has 2 colors and is printed on recycled kraft paper.

Rocket Red (transparency) actually looks great on kraft

 I think it works great!

Right now, I'm folding and stapling the books. I'll post the finished product soon.

Luk Zephyr and the Curse of the Hydra

This is my first silkscreen book- LUK ZEPHYR AND THE CURSE OF THE HYDRA.

   I hope you like it. The entire process was tedious, great, and pain staking. I learned a lot creating this that will hopefully make future silkscreen books much easier and smoother to do. I'm working on a new one right now- just 2 colors. In the meantime, check out my other books.

Halftone Silkscreen Print

  After printing 7-8 colors on my silkscreen book (which I will post fully soon), I wanted to see if I can get away with printing the next ones using CMYK halftones. This way there are only 4 colors- Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black.

    It was a great idea in theory, since it was less work printing. But, man, registering the halftones are a pain! The process does give a different look with the print, though.

    I used an old digital illustration (featuring the War Sadhu) to test it out. Right now, I'm sketching out the new prints, but I haven't decided which way I'm gonna print them- halftones or solid colors.

Book. Done.

Finally got my book done! Woot woot. I'll post the pages soon.

 

This is all the books finally printed and cut down. Preparing to staple down with a saddle stapler... A very long and grueling process.

Back to Work... More proofs...

It's a lot of work. But the further I get, the more excited I get to see the final outcome. Each time, I learn something new on printing but also find new mistakes. Definitely a learning curve.

  Another new print! I'm cranking these out the last few days. This was a revamp of an old ink drawing that I did in an Inking class.

This print is for sale for $5 and measures 16x12.5

 "Flower Girl" is a 5-color silkscreen print (blue, pink, white, black, and silver transparency) on craft paper. The paper was a bit crinkled and the paint made some of the layers a bit shiny. But, regardless, I'm really happy how it came out!

 It started out in Photoshop. I use a Cintiq connected to my laptop. It's a bit screwey sometimes, since the 2 monitors show different colors. My laptop always show the duller colors.

 After creating a digital guide (each color is set on separate layers), each layer is turned black and white. I, then, print them on tracing vellum to become my separations.

Guy + Girl + City

A/P (Artist Proof) on White Vellum, go for cheaper- $15

     I finally finished that print I was working on a few weeks ago. It came out really nice, but due to some registration and transparency problems- I only have an Edition of 10 (6 of which doesn't have the last screen yet).

On Cream, Canson Edition Paper

     Regardless, I loved how it came out. They are printed on very nice Canson Edition Printmaking paper- Wheat and Cream (my favorite!). I'm selling them for $20.

     This was actually the digital guide to the separations. Unfortunately, the silkscreen paints aren't true to the Photoshop/ Monitor colors, so they always come out different.

Zephyr 1, First Pages...

New Silkscreen Print!!!

I had my reservations at first, but really liked how it came out with the outlines

Since I'm having problems with the Zephyr book, I decided to start a silkscreen print. It only took a few hours to finish because I had the colors pretty much separated from a previous digital coloring attempt.

It's great to see how the colors turn out once printed, since it's always a little different that what I originally intended.

There's one layer left to do, a gradient, but here's a preview!
