The super late APE 2014 recap....

Earlier this month, I went to APE (Alternative Press Expo). This is my first show outside of the usual NYC-area shows I exhibit at. I was hesitant at first because of the travel costs, but it ultimately paid off.

Prior to this show, I was trying to get as much new silkscreen stuff I could complete. I had the X-men, and What the Baku?! accordion books to show off. And also, my Tribal Masks mini silkscreen print set. Which was awesome!

Once in San Francisco, getting to and from the hotel to and from Fort Mason (the place the event was held) was a bit of a challenge when you don't know how to use the public transportation. Along with all the luggage, traversing the very steep streets of San Francisco was tiring. Thank god for the free shuttle buses APE provided after the festival! Those cut down the walking time.

The actual show was AWESOME. I met some amazing artists and did really well. All my hesitations were quelled by the first day. There were no slow times at all. There may be a break here and there, but it was quite busy throughout the 2 days. I'm so glad that my silkscreen stuff were well received and inspired me to really do more, considering the amount of time and effort it took to complete them. Thank you, Thank you, SF folks!!! You made my trip!!! I appreciate and grateful to everyone who stopped by my table, chatted, and got my stuff. I definitely would love to come back and maybe do more shows out west! I felt like I really reached the type of audience I was hoping for.

After the fest, I finally go to explore San Francisco and took a lot pictures. I didn't want to go back home without seeing the Bay Area. I got to see and enjoy the majestic fog that covered the Golden Gate Bridge, Palace of the Arts, the beautiful town of Sausalito, walked around Fisherman's Wharf, climbed Coit Tower, visited many local shops, and really enjoyed the lights of the night. These happy moments, in addition to being able to show my work to a great audience, really made the trip.

It was during this trip that I really realize for myself that being positive and avoiding the presence of negativity is the way to go. Being around like-minded people who appreciates you and accommodates you the same way you appreciate and accommodate them is the key to, not only being happy, but also in building strong relationships.

I look forward to doing more shows in the future!

If you miss my stuff during this event, you can get them ONLINE or visit me on upcoming shows!

What The Baku?!

Here's another silkscreen project that I recently completed and debuted last weekend at APE.

It was fun and challenging to silkscreen it because the colors does not always look that way they looked in the photoshop color test.

If you missed it during APE, it's now available at my ONLINE STORE.

The Qirin Hunter (progress)

The Qirin Hunter is finally done!

I've been working on this for the past few weeks.

And I finally got it done! Yey! Originally inspired by a design test I did.

Here are some work-in-progress pics compared with the finished pages.

It took awhile to figure out the final character designs.

Once I figured it out, it was all good.

It was definitely fun to do.

The zine will debut this coming Saturday, June 7th at the Grand Comics Festival.

Nature of Nature #2

Finally got this done for on time for this weekend's MoCCA Fest! The second issue of Nature of Nature. YEYS.

I can't wait to debut this. I had to put it off for awhile but its finally done!

But like most risograph prints, the registration are not perfect. But that adds to the look of it. If you can't make the Fest, they are also available through my online store!

Technically, both Nature of Nature's, will debut on this fest. Hmmm... should start thinking about Issue #3.

Burn

Burn will debut at this weekend's MoCCA Fest!

It is handbound and cut, so it's not perfect... which, I guess, is the point of zines.

It was a fun project nonetheless. All done in Photoshop.

You can purchase it ONLINE!

Burn (zine-in-progress)

This will actually by the back cover.

After completing the 2nd issue Nature of Nature, I'm finally starting a new zine! This one is gonna somewhat abstract.

Preliminary cover design.

It's actually based on a character I previously drew. She's a fire priestess.

My initial cover idea.... color test.

Like always, I try to change up how I do the comic. Which can be both a good and bad thing. The previous zines I made were Pen/Brush/Inked.

For this one, I am gonna draw the whole thing through Photoshop.

Quickie sketch.

But I did draw the "thumbs" and initial idea on paper and taped them on my closet door. This helps to see the continuity of the story.

My non-sensical storyboards....

I can't wait for the issue to come out and see what the other contributors has in store. You can also get our back issues online.

Nature of Nature #1 (printed!)

I've had to put aside the second issue of Nature of Nature, since I was pretty busy the last month. I did, however, finally got the first issue riso-printed thanks to Eric Taylor @ SouthSprings.
